With a citation historiography visualization program,this paper analyzed and differentiated the threads of academia's understanding of the conception"conflict of interest in clinical trials".The routes along which it diffuses among academic domains or disciplines were put in order.The pattern of its spread in the space was discerned and research topics directly relevant to this conception were found.

Twelve typical foreign patent analysis tools were presented in this paper to provide a comparison of text mining capabilities,visualization technology,perceived strengths,potential limitations,output of results etc,while the applicability of these tools were evaluated and suggestions as to which user groups may benefit from it.Summarized some valuable information for patent information analysts to choose proper tools and for software analysis tool provider to improve these tools.
