Journal of Modern Information has been selected for the pilot project of the Cluster (Group)-based Pilot Project under the China Science Journal Excellence Action Plan.

Recently, the list of selected projects for the second phase (2024—2028) of the China Science Journal Excellence Action Plan (CSJAP) has been announced. China Scientific and Technical Publishing House (CSTPH) has been selected for the Cluster (Group) Pilot Project (Category A) of the second phase of the CSJAP. Journal of Modern Information is one of the cluster journals, which means the journal will enter a new platform and gain new opportunities for high-quality development.

The CSJAP is a major initiative jointly promoted by seven ministries and commissions, including the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance. It is the largest-scale, best-funded, and most-extensive development support program in China's science journal field. The core goal of the cluster pilot project is to learn from international best practices. It aims to select and support a number of institutions with the ability to operate journals on a large scale as pilot projects. This will help improve the overall quality and expand the scale of journal clusters. It will also build a strong publishing platform. This platform will provide strong support for the return of overseas-published journals and the localization of scientific literature. Ultimately, it will help China gain more initiative and discourse power in the fields of international academic publishing and evaluation.
