Recently, Journal of Modern Information(JMI) which is jointly sponsored by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of Jilin and China Society for Scientific and Technical Information, under the supervision of Department of Science and Technology of Jilin Province, has been selected for the "Source Journal for Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations(Social Science Edition)".

Since 1987, Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China has been engaged in the statistics and analysis of Chinese scientific papers. It has developed the "Chinese Science and Technical Papers and Citations Database (CSTPCD)" and uses the data from this database to conduct various classified statistics and analyses of China's scientific research output each year. The results are regularly published in the form of annual research reports and press conferences. These reports, including the "Annual Report on the Statistics and Analysis of Chinese Scientific Papers" and the "Chinese Journal Citation Report (Core Edition)," provide rich information and decision-making support for government management departments, universities, research institutions, and researchers.

The journals selected by the "Chinese Science and Technical Papers and Citations Database" are referred to as "Core Journals of Chinese Science and Technology" or "Chinese Science and Technical Paper Statistics Source Journals." The selection of these core journals is based on strict peer review and quantitative evaluation, making them among the most important in their respective fields and reflecting the development level of each discipline.
